How to Clean Cricut Mat [3 WAYS]

The Cricut machine is an AMAZING invention. You can create multiple and multiple creative projects using this tool. But, when you get really creative and have been using your Cricut mat so often that it’s not very clean anymore, you might be thinking to purchase a new one.

Unless it’s super dirty, don’t.

YOU CAN REUSE a Cricut mat over and over again to save money.

SO PROCEED TO CLEAN YOUR CRICUT MAT!

How to clean your Cricut mat?

Well, actually there are several ways you can try.

#1 If There Are Only A Few Debris On Your Mat

This method is great for level-1 dirtiness.

You can easily use a lint roller.

Lint roller is SUPER CHEAP and SUPER EASY TO USE.

So, how do you clean your Cricut mat using a lint roller?

Hey, just use it the way you use your lint roller for your clothes! ROLL IT. ROLL IT DILIGENTLY until all the debris and leftover papers are gone.

Don’t have a lint roller at home? Or out of the refill?

NO WORRIES. Grab that double-sided tape and wrap it to an empty toilet paper roll [the brown cardboard] and use it the way you’re using a lint roller.

Don’t have a double-sided tape? You can use regular tape and make it “double-sided” [fold it into 2] and wrap it into an empty toilet paper roll.

#2 If There Are Some Little Fabric/Paper Covering Your Mat

After some projects, your Cricut mat might have some thick papers leftovers on it.

If this is the case, you might want to grab a scraping tool and a slightly damp cloth or some baby wipes.

First, you will need to scrape off all of the papers that cover the mat.

After that, use the slightly damp cloth or baby wipes to wipe the mat.

After you’re sure that it’s truly clean, don’t use it right away. Give it some 10 or 15 minutes to dry and check if it’s already sticky again before using it.

#3 If There Are Too Much Fabric/Papers Covering Your Mat

Now if your Cricut mat has very thick leftovers on it, including fabric and papers, you might want to WASH IT.

HOW TO WASH A CRICUT MAT:

  1. Shower your cricut mat with warm water
  2. Rub it with a sponge and soapy water so the leftovers are falling off the mat
  3. Rinse off all of the soap and leftover
  4. Gently wipe with a clean paper towel
  5. Let it dry for 10 or 15 minutes

Final Thought

So, those are three different ways that you can try to clean your Cricut mat.

Remember, before buying something new, ask yourself whether there is a way to repair the old thing.

Cleaning a Cricut mat isn’t difficult. It’s affordable [if not very cheap] and it can help you save money on your DIY project.

Don’t forget to regularly clean your Cricut mat after every use [you can easily do it with a cheap lint roller].

HAPPY CRAFTING!
